This mutual fund has turned ₹10,000 monthly SIP into ₹15 lakh in 8 years

A ₹10,000 monthly SIP in the Baroda BNP Paribas Balanced Advantage Fund for nearly eight years would have grown to around ₹15.42 lakh by the end of August 2026, according to data shared by the fund house.

The scheme, which is nearing its eighth anniversary, has crossed the ₹5,000 crore assets under management (AUM) mark.

The fund’s compounded annualised SIP return since inception stood at 12.75%, according to the fund house. Its regular plan delivered a 13.2% annualised return since inception, compared with 10.21% for its benchmark, the Nifty 50 Hybrid Composite Debt 50:50 Index.

An investment of ₹1 lakh made at the scheme’s inception would have grown to ₹2.63 lakh by the end of August 2026, the fund house said.

Over one, three and five years, the regular plan delivered annualised returns of 10.31%, 12.37% and 10.67%, respectively. The corresponding benchmark returns were 1.37%, 7.65% and 7.05%.

The scheme follows a dynamic asset allocation strategy, with its net equity allocation ranging between 30% and 100%. As of August-end, 80.6% of the portfolio was invested in equity, with the remainder in debt, cash and other assets.

Within the equity portfolio, large-cap stocks accounted for 67.7%, while mid-cap and small-cap stocks accounted for 24.6% and 7.7%, respectively.

The debt portfolio comprised 48.8% sovereign and highest-rated instruments, 36.3% cash and cash equivalents, and 15% AA/AA+ rated instruments, according to the fund house. The scheme’s equity allocation is managed by Jitendra Sriram, Kushant Arora and Neeraj Saxena, while Prashant Pimple manages the fixed-income allocation.

The fund house said its asset allocation model uses multiple valuation parameters to determine the allocation between equity and debt. Since such rebalancing takes place within the scheme, investors do not separately realise capital gains each time the fund changes its portfolio allocation. Tax implications arise when units are redeemed, subject to applicable tax rules.

The scheme has a minimum lump-sum investment of ₹5,000 and a minimum monthly SIP of ₹500. According to the fund house, there is no exit load for redemptions of less than 10% of the investment within one year.

The return and portfolio figures are based on data provided by Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund. Past performance does not indicate future returns.
