The Trump administration has revoked more than 300,000 visas since President Donald Trump returned to office in January last year, including at least 4,000 linked to people accused of engaging in or facilitating birth tourism, The New York Post reported.A State Department official told the newspaper that the visa cancellations were linked to criminal activity, threats to public safety and immigration violations, including fraud and misrepresentation.State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the administration had revoked visas at a faster rate than any previous administration.“With over 300,000 revocations, the Trump administration has revoked more visas at a faster pace than any administration in history,” Pigott said.He added that the administration would continue to take action against foreign nationals who violate the law or pose national security concerns while in the US on visas. The State Department has not immediately disclosed the nationalities of those whose visas were revoked, The New York Post reported. The latest figure marks an increase from last month, when the department confirmed that up to 250,000 visas had been revoked since January 2025. The report said the pace of cancellations has increased in 2026, following a review of 23,000 cases by the Bureau of Consular Affairs last year.Criminal offences accounted for a significant share of visa revocations in 2025. According to the report, about 25% of the visas cancelled that year involved assault or related crimes. Another 22% were revoked for driving under the influence, while theft accounted for 7% and substance abuse or distribution for a further 7%.The administration has cited criminal activity, immigration violations and national security concerns as grounds for visa revocations.
