TVS Motor’s total sales rose 24% year-on-year (YoY) to 6.73 lakh units from 5.41 lakh units a year earlier, ahead of the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of 6.37 lakh units.
Hero MotoCorp reported total sales of 7.66 lakh units, up 12% YoY from 6.87 lakh units and above the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of 7 lakh units.
TVS Motor EV sales more than double
TVS Motor’s two-wheeler sales rose 23% YoY to 6.46 lakh units from 5.24 lakh units.
Electric two-wheeler sales more than doubled, rising 110% to 65,799 units from 31,266 units in September 2025.
The company’s international business also remained strong, with total sales rising 48% to 1.81 lakh units. International two-wheeler sales increased 48% to 1.64 lakh units.
Three-wheeler sales rose 57% to 26,835 units.
Hero MotoCorp sees strong scooter growth
Hero MotoCorp’s domestic internal combustion engine (ICE) dispatches rose to 7,10,436 units from 6,32,253 units a year earlier.
ICE scooter dispatches increased 60% YoY, helping drive overall growth.
Domestic ICE VAHAN registrations rose 29% YoY, indicating strong retail demand ahead of the festive season.
Hero MotoCorp’s global business recorded dispatches of 27,330 units, up 5% sequentially. The company also crossed one million customers in Latin America during the month.
Auto registrations jump 45%
The strong September sales reported by TVS Motor and Hero MotoCorp come against a broader increase in vehicle registrations.
VAHAN data showed vehicle registrations rising 45% YoY in September 2026 so far. Two-wheeler registrations increased 48%, while passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle registrations rose 41% and 44%, respectively.
Pure electric vehicle registrations more than doubled during the month.
