UltraTech Q1 Results: Stock gains after margins expand; Co shares C&W biz launch timeline


UltraTech Cement Ltd., India’s largest cement maker, reported June quarter earnings on Monday, July 20, that exceeded Street expectations on revenue, operating profit and net profit, aided by healthy volume growth.

The company reported a 17.2% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹2,604 crore, comfortably ahead of the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹2,453 crore.

Revenue from operations rose 15.8% from a year earlier to ₹24,648 crore, beating the CNBC-TV18 estimate of ₹24,440 crore.

Operating performance also exceeded expectations, with EBITDA increasing 13.7% year-on-year to ₹5,016 crore, compared with the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹4,934 crore.

EBITDA margin stood at 20.4%, slightly lower than 20.7% a year ago due to higher costs, but ahead of the CNBC-TV18 estimate of 20.2%.

Operationally, the company continued to deliver healthy growth. Grey cement volumes increased 13.1% year-on-year to 39.17 million tonnes, while operating EBITDA per tonne improved to ₹1,214 from ₹1,198 a year ago. Sales realisations also increased 3.7% sequentially during the quarter, while consolidated volumes grew 12.2% year-on-year.

UltraTech said its planned foray into the wires and cables business remains on track, with commercial operations expected to commence in the third quarter. Against the planned investment of ₹1,800 crore, the company had committed ₹888 crore as of June 2026.

Shares of UltraTech Cement were trading near the day’s high following the earnings announcement, up nearly 2% at ₹11,948. The stock has gained about 5% over the past month.
