Vedanta Oil & Gas posts ₹945 crore Q1 profit, announces Rajasthan gas discovery


Shares of Vedanta Oil & Gas Ltd. ended 3.3% higher on Wednesday, July 29, ahead of the company’s first quarterly results following its demerger and separate listing.

The company reported a net profit of ₹945 crore for the June quarter, compared with a loss of ₹476 crore in the previous quarter.

Revenue from operations declined 3.1% sequentially to ₹2,507 crore, while EBITDA fell 7.7% to ₹814 crore. EBITDA margin narrowed to 32.5% from 34.1% in the March quarter.

During the quarter, Vedanta Oil & Gas recorded an average gross operated production of 77.7 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd), while average working interest production stood at 51.1 kboepd. Total gross production for the quarter was 7.1 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe), with working interest production at 4.7 million boe.

The company also announced a gas discovery at the Kaam BCP-1ST well in the Kameshwari Graben area of the RJ-ON-90/1 block in Rajasthan’s Barmer Basin. It said detailed technical and commercial evaluation of the discovery is underway.

Interim CEO and Whole-Time Director Jim Johnny Gast said the June quarter marked a milestone with the company’s listing on the BSE and NSE. He added that the company’s operational performance, exploration success and disciplined capital allocation position it well to pursue growth through exploration drilling, enhanced oil recovery projects and infill development programmes.

Chief Financial Officer Arpit Mundra said the company’s performance was supported by favourable commodity prices, healthy realizations and continued focus on cost efficiency, while maintaining investments in future growth opportunities.

The Rajasthan block remained the company’s largest producing asset, delivering an average gross production of 63.1 kboepd during the quarter. Vedanta Oil & Gas currently holds interests in 44 blocks covering more than 47,000 sq km across India, with an estimated resource base of 1.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

Vedanta Oil & Gas shares settled at ₹35.31, up 3.31% on Wednesday. The stock is down around 2% so far in 2026.
