The star even came to India during the filming of one of his most popular films, ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.‘ Visiting the Ganges in Varanasi, Pitt was left in awe of the city. Brad Pitt’s visit to Varanasi
While Pitt has visited India on multiple occasions, his most memorable trip was in 2007, when even though he was only meant to shoot a clip for his film, he managed to immerse himself in the local culture after being left in awe. He visited India while filming ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ which was directed by David Fincher. The Oscar-winning film featured a montage sequence of the actor travelling the world, with India as one of his stops. The clips were shot by director Tarsem Singh, who is best known for his work in ‘Immortals,’ ‘Dear Jassi,’ and ‘The Cell.’The actor had an amazing time in the country, which he spoke about in multiple old interviews. While talking to Hindustan Times in 2011, he stated, “I’ve never seen a country like India; it was an extraordinary trip. And we absolutely loved Deepavali, the Indian festival of lights.”Photos of his visit to India have time and time again gone viral online, showing how the Hollywood icon immersed himself in Indian culture. In one of the photos, the actor was seen smoking, while another showed him sitting and reading a newspaper. Furthermore, one of his photos that often goes viral online shows him sitting in a barber’s chair on the roadside, getting his hair cut. In another of his photos from his visit, Pitt can also be seen playing chess with someone while sitting on the ghats in Varanasi.In another interview from 2012 with DNA, he said, “On my last visit, I got to see a lot of India. There is no place like it. And it’s so diverse—both the South and the North—that one cannot get to see all of it in a couple of weeks. But I found Varanasi absolutely staggering. I have never seen anything like it before. The city just spills into the river Ganges. It’s a holy place where people go to die. It’s really, really extraordinary!”
