FIIs sold equities worth ₹17.86 crore during the session, with purchases at ₹16,161.35 crore and sales at ₹16,179.21 crore.
Domestic institutional investors remained net buyers, purchasing equities worth ₹4,013.60 crore. DIIs bought equities worth ₹19,723.68 crore and sold shares worth ₹15,710.08 crore.
The latest fund flow data comes after FIIs had turned net sellers in the previous session, while DIIs had returned as buyers after a period of mixed flows.
Indian equity markets ended higher on Thursday.
The benchmarks saw minor adjustments after the Closing Auction Session (CAS), compared with the previous three sessions. The Nifty adjusted by 8 points, Sensex by 169 points and Nifty Bank by 56 points from their 3:15 pm levels.
The Sensex closed 374 points higher at 78,955, while the Nifty gained 11 points to end at 24,636. The Nifty Bank rose 324 points to 58,064, while the midcap index slipped 278 points to 63,227.
Market breadth remained tilted towards declines, with midcap weakness weighing on overall sentiment.
Reliance Industries was among the key contributors to the Nifty’s gains, rising 4% and adding around 80 points to the index. State Bank of India also supported the benchmark ahead of its earnings.
Power Grid Corporation was the top Nifty loser, declining around 4% after reporting weaker-than-expected Q1 results. Bharti Airtel and auto stocks also dragged the index.
Trent ended marginally lower despite reporting a healthy margin beat in the June quarter. Blue Star fell 6% and closed near the day’s low after a weak Q1 performance.
SBI gained nearly 3% ahead of its results, while other PSU banks also moved higher. BSE remained under pressure, closing 3% lower, while Angel One also declined.
Hero MotoCorp slipped 2% amid profit booking ahead of its earnings.
The defence basket witnessed buying interest, with Mazagon Dock, HAL, BDL and Cochin Shipyard rising up to 6%. Kalyan Jewellers gained 5% in the second half of the session, while Tata Technologies rose over 6% following reports of an order win from Honda.
