Bank holidays this week: SBI, HDFC, PNB to close on these dates for Durga Puja, Dussehra. Check city-wise list

Banks in several states will remain closed on different days this week due to Dussehra, Durga Puja and related festivals. The holidays fall between Monday, October 19, and Friday, October 23, with bank closures varying from state to state.

Customers planning to visit bank branches for transactions or paperwork are advised to check the RBI’s official holiday calendar or contact their local branch beforehand. As bank holidays differ across states, checking the schedule in advance can help avoid unnecessary trips during the festive period.

Nationwide closures

Apart from these festival-related holidays, banks across the country will also remain closed on regular weekly holidays. All Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month are non-working days for banks. Accordingly, branches will be closed on October 24 (fourth Saturday) and October 25 (Sunday).

Will online banking services remain available?

Most digital banking services, including mobile banking, internet banking and UPI payments, are generally available on bank holidays. Customers can use these services to transfer money, check account balances and make digital payments.

ATMs and cash deposit machines are expected to remain operational for cash withdrawals and deposits, but some ATMs may run out of cash during extended bank closures. Services that require assistance from bank staff, such as documentation and account-related procedures, may need to wait until the branch reopens.
