Vijay Kedia Dussehra message: Veteran investor Vijay Kedia has shared an investing lesson on the occasion of Vijayadashami, warning that excessive conviction in a wrong investment decision can lead to wealth destruction, even when investors possess considerable knowledge and experience.
In a post on social media platform X, Kedia drew a parallel between Ravana’s downfall and the mistakes investors make in the stock market. He highlighted the importance of recognising mistakes and reconsidering investment decisions before they result in substantial financial losses.
Vijay Kedia’s Dussehra message to investors
Referring to Ravana’s intelligence, power and wealth, Kedia wrote, “Ravana had everything -brilliance, knowledge, power and wealth. Except the wisdom to know when he was wrong.”
He added, “He lost everything because he refused to reconsider one disastrous decision.”
Drawing a connection to stock market investing, Kedia said, “There is a little Ravana in every investor.”
Through the analogy, the veteran investor highlighted how refusing to acknowledge a mistake can have serious financial consequences.
Why investors lose money, according to Vijay Kedia
Kedia pointed out that investment losses are not necessarily caused by a lack of knowledge. Instead, excessive confidence in an incorrect decision can also put investors’ wealth at risk.
“Investors don’t always lose money because they lack knowledge. Sometimes they lose because they have too much conviction in a wrong decision,” he wrote.
His remarks highlighted the distinction between having confidence in an investment and recognising when the original investment decision may have been incorrect.
‘Knowing when you are wrong saves your wealth’
Concluding his Vijayadashami message, Kedia shared what he described as an important lesson for investors.
“In investing, being right makes you money. Knowing when you are wrong saves your wealth. ✌️”
He ended his post by wishing his followers a happy Vijayadashami.
Kedia’s message centred on the importance of acknowledging mistakes, reassessing investment decisions and avoiding excessive conviction when investing in the stock market.
