The launch marks the group’s fourth new business foray in three years. The business will be anchored by a manufacturing facility at Jhagadia in Bharuch district, Gujarat, with the company saying the location will support distribution and logistics across India.
UltraTech’s entry into the sector expands its presence in the construction value chain beyond grey cement, ready-mix concrete, building products and white cement. The company said the move is aimed at participating in demand linked to home building, infrastructure and electrification.
The company said Ultravolt will be the second-largest player in the wires segment by capacity at launch and aims to become one of the top two players in the market within five years.
Pan-India rollout
Ultravolt plans to launch across more than 500 districts and 6,000 pin codes, with a target of reaching more than one lakh retailers. It also plans to use more than 5,000 UltraTech Building Solutions outlets and a network of more than 20 warehouses.
Ultravolt director Dilip Gaur said the company would pursue a pan-India rollout rather than enter markets region by region.
“Our plan is to reach more than one lakh retailers and further activate availability through over 5,000 UltraTech Building Solutions (UBS) outlets,” Gaur said. He added that the company plans to build its presence across more than 500 districts and 6,000 pin codes initially.
Commenting on the product portfolio, Ultravolt CEO Sriram Rangarajan said the company is launching with home wires, flexible wires and cables for residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure applications.
“We want to use our understanding of home consumers and to develop products for their growing needs,” Rangarajan said. “We want to bring a more consumer-first approach to the category, with safety, performance and future-readiness at the centre of product development.”

Commenting on the launch, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said wires and cables are becoming important to India’s development as urbanisation, electrification and digitisation expand.
“Wires and cables are becoming central to India’s next phase of development. They sit at the intersection of three mega trends in the Indian economy – urbanisation, electrification and digitization,” Birla said.
He added that more than 100 million new homes over the next decade, expanding energy infrastructure and the growth of data centres could drive demand for wires and cables. “Our distinctive advantage comes from a deep understanding of the product, its underlying components and the adjacent ecosystems,” he said.
Speaking on the group’s expansion into new businesses, Birla said, “In recent years, successful new business creation has itself become a core part of the Group’s DNA and an important source of differentiation for the group. I increasingly see the Aditya Birla Group as providing the platform and engine for new bets.”
Ultravolt has also started an electrician-engagement programme focused on product knowledge, safety and installation standards. More than 1,600 electricians had joined the programme before the launch, while the company plans to train more than 40,000 electricians over the coming year under the Skill India programme with ESSCI.
