Anand Rathi Wealth employee files FIR alleging sexual harassment; company denies charges

A 33-year-old employee of Anand Rathi Wealth Limited has lodged a police complaint in Pune alleging sexual harassment and intimidation by senior officials, with an FIR now registered in the case.

According to reports, the complaint names five individuals, including senior members of the organisation. The case has been registered at the Shivajinagar Police Station in Pune and is currently under investigation.

In her statement, the employee alleged that her attempts to raise concerns internally were met with threats, including fears of losing her job if she pursued the matter further.

In response to queries from CNBC-TV18, the company said it has been aware of the issue since June 2025 and had advised the complainant to take the formal route under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) framework.

The company said the employee did not file a written complaint under POSH or participate in the internal process despite multiple communications.

It added, “Instead, the complainant chose to raise the matter across multiple other forums, including the Whistleblower Committee (with records noted at the Board level), the Maharashtra Women Commission (where the matter is currently pending investigation ), and the Industrial Court (where the matter is sub judice).”

The firm also noted that a previous complaint filed with the Mumbai Police resulted in a closure report on March 24, 2026, which observed: “The complainant was repeatedly called to the police station for inquiry. As per the complaint, no cognisable offence was found, and the complainant was requested to register a formal case. However, each time, the complainant avoided registering the offence.”

Describing the allegations as “frivolous,” the company said they involve senior executives, including the CEO and joint CEO, and that it is taking appropriate legal action.

Anand Rathi Wealth Ltd also told CNBC-TV18 that the employee approached the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Greater Mumbai, on January 8, this year, “requesting registration of the offence.”

“However,” it added, “the complainant did not attend the concerned police station for further proceedings.”

Further investigation into the FIR is underway.
