Part of broader pre-IPO financing push
The credit facility build-up comes as Anthropic accelerates preparations for a stock market debut, having confidentially filed IPO paperwork alongside rival OpenAI. Market watchers expect the Claude chatbot maker to make its public markets debut as early as this autumn, potentially putting it ahead of OpenAI in the race to list. The manoeuvre echoes a similar pre-IPO playbook used by other high-growth companies; SpaceX, for instance, expanded its own revolving credit facility to USD 5 billion shortly before its own blockbuster public offering, using a largely similar banking syndicate.
