The sixth day at the 2926 Asian Games started on a sensational note for India as the contingent won two medals within the opening hour in Aichi-Nagoya. The first came on bronze in rowing, followed by a historic silver in wushu. Seema Kumari then made the day even better in the evening, winning bronze in the women’s 10,000m final, bringing the first athletics medal for the Indian contingent at the Asian Games. A few minutes later, it was double delight for India as the mixed 4x400m relay team (Manu TS, Poovamma MR, Vishal TK and Vithya Ramraj) came second in the final, winning silver.
Satnam Singh and Salman Khan kicked off Thursday with a third-place finish in the men’s double sculls final, clocking 6:13.25, just 3.48 seconds behind the winners Yi Xudi / Nie Yide of China, and 2.76 seconds behind Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov / Pavel Sorin of Uzbekistan, who earned silver. This was Satnam’s second medal at the Asian Games, having won the bronze in 2022 in the men’s quadruple sculls team.
Roshibina Devi then won the silver medal in women’s 60kg Sanda. This was her second consecutive silver at the Games and a third-straight Asiad medal haul, which came after she lost to Zhang Xiaoyu of China by a 2-0 scoreline, losing both rounds 0-5 – (2-6, 3-6, 2-6, 2-6, 2-8) and (2-10, 3-8, 3-7, 3-7, 1-6).
Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka won India’s eighth medal in shooting at the Asian Games this year with a bronze haul in mixed team skeet. Overall, India now has 15 medals at the Asiad, and currently stand 14th in the list.
