Axis AMC to enter SIF segment, plans equity and hybrid offerings

Axis Asset Management Company (Axis AMC) on Friday (October 9) announced its entry into the specialised investment fund (SIF) segment under the brand name ‘Accelerate SIF’, with plans to introduce products in the equity and hybrid categories.

The fund house said further details of the individual offerings would be announced closer to their respective launches.

Nandik Mallik will lead Axis AMC’s SIF business.

He has more than two decades of experience in financial services and has previously worked at ICICI Prudential AMC, where he launched a long-short fund, and Avendus Capital Public Markets Alternate Strategies LLP, where he served as chief investment officer (CIO).

Axis AMC said the new business would focus on portfolio construction, risk management and risk-adjusted returns. The company has not yet disclosed the launch dates or specific investment strategies of its proposed SIF offerings.

“The introduction of SIFs is an important development for the industry,” B Gopkumar, managing director and chief executive officer of Axis AMC, said in a statement, adding that the company would focus on developing investment solutions for specific portfolio objectives while maintaining an emphasis on governance and investor protection.

Markets today are shaped by dispersion across sectors, themes and asset classes, making active portfolio construction more important than ever. Accelerate SIF gives us greater flexibility in how we identify and capture these opportunities. Our approach will remain rooted in fundamental research, with a sharp focus on generating risk-adjusted returns through high-conviction ideas while maintaining a disciplined risk framework.R SIVAKUMAR, CIO, AXIS MUTUAL FUND

SIFs are a category of investment products regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). They provide fund managers with greater investment flexibility than conventional mutual fund schemes, subject to the regulatory framework applicable to the category.

The products carry risks, including market volatility, liquidity risk and potential loss of capital. Investors should review the investment strategy, risk disclosures and applicable eligibility requirements before investing.
