Bombay Burmah shares jump up to 10% after equity worth ₹249 crore changes hands


Shares of Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd. gained nearly 10% after witnessing large trades on Friday, September 18.

As many as 18.3 lakh shares or 2.62% equity of the company changed hands via block deals on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday.

Shares changed hands at an average price of ₹1,360 apiece, taking the total transaction value to ₹249 crore.

The official buyers and sellers of the transactions are not yet known.

At the end of the June quarter, promoter entities held 74% stake in the company while public shareholding comprised 26%, as per data available on the BSE.

The last time it was higher than 9% was on August 27, 2026, when the stock ended 13.1% higher. The stock has traded with gains in just two out of the last seven trading sessions.

Among the public shareholders, Mutual Funds in India had a 0.5% stake, while Acacia Partners had more than 4% stake. Over 45,000 small retail shareholders, or those with authorized share capital of up to ₹2 lakh have a 11.71% stake in the company.Shares of Bombay Burmah are off the highs of the day, but holding on to gains of over 5% at ₹1,474.9. The stock is down 21% so far this year but has been flat over the last one month.
