CMR Green Technologies sees growth opportunity in metal recycling
In an interview with CNBC-TV18 on June 3, 2026, Chairman and Managing Director Mohan Agarwal said CMR Green Technologies was well placed to benefit from the increasing shift towards recycling and circular economy practices.
The company held a 17% share of the overall recycling market in FY25 and a 45% market share in recycled aluminium used in the automotive segment. Agarwal said the company was targeting a higher overall market share over the next three to four years.
He also said CMR Green Technologies was around four times larger than its nearest competitor in India and ranked among the world’s leading players in the segment.
The company had an installed capacity of around 6.05 lakh tonnes, with two major plants in the ramp-up phase. Capacity utilisation stood at approximately 70%, with further improvement expected as operations scaled up.

The company derived nearly 78% of its revenue from aluminium, with the automotive segment accounting for around 90% of its aluminium business. Going forward, the contribution from the automotive sector was expected to decline as CMR Green Technologies expanded its presence in billets, sheeting ingots and beverage can recycling.
Agarwal said the company’s strategy of supplying recycled metal to primary producers offered significant growth opportunities, particularly as these producers increasingly focused on decarbonisation.
He said the company’s debt-to-equity ratio, which had risen to around 0.76 following recent capital expenditure, was expected to return to approximately 0.5 as new capacities ramped up and began contributing to earnings.
