Indraprastha Gas Limited on Monday reported a decline in its fourth-quarter earnings for the financial year ended March 2026, as rising gas input costs and supply challenges linked to tensions in West Asia weighed on profitability.
Despite pressure on margins, IGL managed to register steady operational growth during the quarter. The company’s overall gas sales volume increased 6 per cent year-on-year to 9.69 million standard cubic metres per day (mmscmd), backed by healthy demand in both the CNG and PNG segments.
According to the company, CNG sales volumes rose 5 per cent during the quarter, while piped natural gas (PNG) volumes recorded a 6 per cent increase compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
Revenue from operations also moved higher, climbing 6 per cent to Rs 4,571.49 crore in Q4 FY26 against Rs 4,322.71 crore reported a year ago.
IGL stated that disruptions arising from the West Asia crisis during March 2026 affected gas sourcing costs, which ultimately impacted quarterly profitability.
For the full financial year FY26, the company reported an 8 per cent increase in gross turnover at Rs 17,785.36 crore. Overall sales volumes during the year rose 4 per cent to 9.39 mmscmd.
Among business segments, domestic PNG demand remained strong, registering a 9 per cent increase. Industrial and commercial PNG volumes grew 5 per cent, while CNG sales also witnessed a 4 per cent rise during the fiscal year.
However, annual profit after tax slipped to Rs 1,364.10 crore in FY26 from Rs 1,467.59 crore in FY25 due to elevated input gas prices in the latter half of the year.
The company’s board has recommended a final dividend of 75 per cent. With this, the total dividend payout for FY26 stands at 237.5 per cent, translating to Rs 4.75 per equity share.
IGL currently operates one of the country’s largest city gas distribution networks across Delhi-NCR and nearby regions. Its infrastructure includes more than 28,000 km of gas pipelines and over 1,000 CNG stations, catering to over 2.1 million vehicles and more than three million households.
