Under this service, customers can pay a one-time fee of ₹300 to get cashback vouchers for JioHome/Jio PC and Jio SIM worth ₹600.
The one-time fee also gives customers protection from tariff hikes. The membership provides a one-year price-protection guarantee till September 5, 2027, shielding users from any potential mobile tariff hikes.
The move brings forth a key question – as to whether this price lock mechanism by Jio, a signal that tariff hikes across the broader telecom market are imminent?
Analysts believe that Jio would need to justify the one-time ₹300 Prime fee with an eventual bigger tariff hike.
How Does Jio Compare To Bharti Airtel?
On another note, last week, Bharti Airtel discontinued its cheaper ₹299 plan, thereby making the lowest available plan worth ₹349, a 16% jump.
However, Jio has held on to its a ₹299 plan for Prime subscribers, with the effective price being ₹324.
At this rate, the plan for Jio Prime subscribers is ₹25 per month cheaper than Bharti Airtel at the entry level and the subscriber protected from future hikes.Jio IPO
Reliance Industries is planning to list Jio Platforms some time this year, with the telecom unit having already filed its draft IPO papers with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in June 2026.
The IPO will be a fresh issue of 27 crore shares and it has no offer for sale (OFS) component. This means all proceeds will go to the firm and no existing shareholder is selling their stake in the IPO.
The 27 crore shares offered amount to 2.93% of the post-issue equity of the company.
