JSW Cement swings to Q1 profit of ₹161 crore as revenue rises 22%

JSW Cement reported a consolidated net profit of ₹160.6 crore for the quarter ended June 30, reversing a loss of ₹1,356.2 crore a year earlier, when its results were weighed down by a large exceptional charge.

Revenue from operations rose 21.6% year-on-year to ₹1,896.4 crore in the first quarter of FY27 from ₹1,559.8 crore. Total income increased to ₹1,970.2 crore from ₹1,581.9 crore.

Operating performance, however, weakened during the quarter.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, fell 7.5% to ₹298.6 crore from ₹322.7 crore a year earlier. The EBITDA margin narrowed to 15.7% from 20.7%.

Profit before exceptional items and tax rose to ₹190.2 crore from ₹164.7 crore.

The sharp swing in bottom-line performance largely reflected the absence of an exceptional charge that weighed on the year-earlier quarter. JSW Cement reported no exceptional items in the June 2026 quarter, compared with a ₹1,466.4 crore exceptional charge a year earlier.

Profit attributable to owners of the company stood at ₹160.6 crore, compared with a loss of ₹1,356.2 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Basic earnings per share stood at ₹1.20, while diluted EPS was ₹1.19. That compared with a loss per share of ₹13.75 on both a basic and diluted basis a year earlier.

Separately, JSW Cement’s board approved raising as much as ₹500 crore through various instruments, including rated and listed non-convertible debentures issued on a private-placement basis.

Shares of JSW Cement ended 0.43% higher at ₹131.11 on the NSE on Thursday, August 13.
