The success of ‘Mandaadi’ has given director Mathimaran Pugazhendhi an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of the actors and crew who helped bring the film to the screen. At the film’s success meet, the director singled out Mahima Nambiar for her commitment after an accident and also praised Suhas for his transformation as Satta Puli. The Soori-led film, set against the backdrop of traditional boat races and the lives of fishermen, has completed eight days in theatres and reportedly earned around Rs 76 crore worldwide.

Mathimaran reserved special praise for Mahima Nambiar, recalling the difficult circumstances under which she returned to the sets for an important song in the film.Speaking at the success meet, the director said, “I watched the interview Mahima gave. She spoke about performing and then leaving the set and crying. I want to thank her for that effort.”Mathimaran then revealed that Mahima had suffered a major accident just five days before the shoot of Usure Needhaan. According to the director, she sustained facial injuries and underwent surgery, requiring more than 20 stitches.Despite the ordeal, Mahima returned to the sets just days later to complete the shoot.

Mahima Nambiar returned six days after surgery

Recalling the circumstances surrounding the song shoot, Mathimaran said that he had reached out to Mahima to find out whether she would be able to participate in the schedule.“Even at that time, she took a selfie and sent it to me. I asked her if she could come for the shoot because my situation was like that. She came for the shoot just six days after her surgery. There is a lot of Mahima’s hard work behind that song, and I am truly thankful to her,” he said.

Mathimaran praises Suhas’ transformation in ‘Mandaadi’

Mathimaran also spoke about Suhas, who made his Tamil debut with ‘Mandaadi’ and played the character Satta Puli. The director recalled the actor’s disappointment over comments surrounding his skin tone and explained that he wanted the film to present Suhas in a different light to Tamil audiences.“I promised you, and I believe I have taken you exactly where I promised,” Mathimaran said.He also pointed to the response to Satta Puli, noting that the character has become familiar with audiences. For Mathimaran, the reception to the character represents an important part of Suhas’ journey with the film.

Soori, Suhas and Mahima Nambiar lead ‘Mandaadi’

‘Mandaadi’ stars Soori, Suhas and Mahima Nambiar in the lead roles, alongside Sathyaraj and other key actors. Mathimaran Pugazhendhi has directed the film, while GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music and S.R. The film’s commercial performance has added to the celebrations surrounding its theatrical run. According to Sacnilk, ‘Mandaadi’ has earned more than Rs 75 crore worldwide after eight days, with reports putting its worldwide collection at around Rs 76 crore.
