Reliance Retail hyper-local orders jump over 4x in Q4, heats up competition for Blinkit, Zepto

Reliance Industries' arm Reliance Retail sells 100% stake in RPPMSL for ₹274 crore

Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd reported a sharp expansion in its hyper-local commerce business in Q4 FY26, with average daily orders rising more than four times year-on-year and up 29% sequentially, intensifying competition for players such as Blinkit and Zepto.

The company said hyper-local commerce growth was driven by rapid scale-up across grocery, electronics, and fashion segments, supported by its extensive network across 3,100+ stores in 1,200+ cities and 5,100+ pin codes. The expansion has helped build India’s widest hyper-local delivery network.

Isha M Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd, said, “The most significant shift this year was structural. Hyper-local commerce orders grew more than fourfold year-on-year. We operate India’s widest hyper-local delivery network across grocery, electronics and fashion – powered by 3,100+ stores across 1,200+ cities and 5,100+ pin codes. This is a uniquely Indian platform, built on a uniquely Reliance scale-advantage.”

Its e-commerce platform JioMart, which is competing with quick commerce players such as Zomato-owned Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and BigBasket, has probably become the largest in the country with its vast network and strategically located dark stores.

Also, Reliance Retail said it has expanded its non-grocery quick hyper-local commerce network to 682 electronics stores and 1,700+ fashion and lifestyle stores with a 2-hour delivery promise.

Reliance Retail hyperlocal commerce arm JioMart has built the widest network in the country, serving 1,200 cities through 3,100 stores, a mix of dark stores and walk-in outlets, Reliance Retail CFO Dinesh Taluja said during the earnings call.

Reliance Retail has also integrated its electronics stores and over 1,700 fashion outlets onto the platform, enabling two-hour delivery — a service he said is unique given the network density.

“Now, that’s pretty unique to us because nobody has the kind of network density to be able to offer this service,” he said, adding, “most people do multi-categories through their dark stores, but the assortment is very limited. However, in our case, we are able to offer the entire full store assortment on a hyperlocal basis.”

The platform is further expanding through third-party sellers to plug gaps and present a comprehensive proposition to customers. “In addition to having our one catalogue, we are also expanding through third-party sellers… the customers see a comprehensive proposition, and they’re able to shop for everything,” he said.
