Drugmaker Sanofi India Ltd on Tuesday (September 8) said the Supreme Court of India has dismissed its petition seeking to quash criminal proceedings related to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) complaint over pharmaceutical supplies to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mysore, between 2012 and 2015.

The Supreme Court order, dated September 7, 2026, concerns the maintainability of criminal prosecution against the company even when no individual employee has been arraigned. The court has not recorded any finding of guilt or adjudicated on the merits of the case, Sanofi India said.

“The matter relates to an appeal filed by the company, for quashing the criminal complaint case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation against the company.

The complaint relates to pharmaceutical supplies made to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (“BARC”), Mysore between 2012 and 2015 and allegations of alleged conspiracy with a BARC Personnel to wrongfully influence procurement decisions. As on date, the criminal Complaint case is pending for trial,” according to a stock exchange filing.

The matter relates to an appeal filed by Sanofi India seeking to quash the criminal complaint filed by the CBI. The complaint involves allegations of an alleged conspiracy with BARC personnel to wrongfully influence procurement decisions. The criminal complaint case is currently pending trial.

Sanofi India said the order was received by the company on September 7. The company is assessing the judgment and formulating its next litigation strategy.

According to the company, the judgment does not impose any penalty, conviction or operational restriction on Sanofi India at this stage. “The company is assessing the judgment and formulating its next litigation strategy. Shares of Sanofi India Ltd ended at ₹3,113.05, down by ₹7.60, or 0.24%, on the BSE.
