SEPC shares jump 11% on ₹855 crore SAIL-IISCO contract win; order book crosses ₹10,000 crore


Shares of SEPC surged nearly 11% on Friday, October 9, after the company signed a ₹855 crore contract with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) for work on the pellet plant at the IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur, West Bengal,

In an exchange filing, SEPC said that the contract signing was completed on October 8, following a letter of acceptance received from SAIL-IISCO in August this year.

The contract covers the pellet plant balance of plant (BOP) package, including civil and structural works, as part of SAIL-IISCO’s 4.08 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) crude steel expansion project at Burnpur.

The project will be executed on a divisible turnkey basis and is scheduled for commissioning within 32 months from the effective date of September 3, 2026.

The total contract price is ₹951.60 crore, including ₹97.04 crore in input tax credit to be passed on to SAIL, resulting in a net contract value of ₹854.57 crore.

SEPC Managing Director Venkataramani Jaiganesh said, “The signing of the Contract Agreement with SAIL-IISCO Steel Plant formalises one of the most significant industrial projects in our portfolio.”

Calling the Burnpur expansion an “important part of India’s steel capacity growth,” he said that the company’s focus would now be on execution and delivering the package within the stipulated timeline, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

With the latest contract, SEPC’s consolidated order book has crossed ₹10,000 crore, according to the company’s exchange filing on Friday, October 9. The company said the order book provides multi-year revenue visibility and strengthens its presence in large industrial engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects.

Shares of the company jumped about 11% following the order win, reaching an intraday high of ₹5.47. The stock has ended the session 7.5% higher at ₹5.3. The stock is down nearly 50% so far this year.
