Stocks to Buy Today, August 24: The Indian stock market is expected to start on a higher note on Monday (August 24), as indicated by GIFT Nifty.

As of 8:10 am IST, GIFT Nifty traded 0.3 per cent, or 70.5 points, higher at 24,379. GIFT Nifty is a pre-market indicator for the Nifty 50 and often signals whether the benchmark index is likely to open higher, lower or flat based on global market cues. (GIFT Nifty Today)

Ahead of the trading session, SEBI-registered research analyst Kunal Bothra and Rachit Khandelwal, Head of Research at BNK Capital Group, have recommended a few stocks that could potentially deliver gains during Monday’s session.

Nifty Levels to Watch

Ahead of today’s trading session on the NSE, the analyst has identified the following key support and resistance levels for the Nifty 50:

  • Support: 24,000
  • Resistance: 24,300/24,500

Japan’s Nikkei 225 ticked lower at 65,950. South Korea’s KOSPI traded about 2.3 per cent lower at 6,748.12, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slipped over 2 per cent to 25,474. Meanwhile, China’s Shanghai Composite also slipped 0.7 per cent to 3,878.08.

Stock Market on August 21

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended marginally higher on Friday, as elevated crude oil prices due to geopolitical uncertainties and a sharp fall in US markets made investors cautious.

On Friday, August 21, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex gained 3.11 points to close at 77,540.83. The NSE Nifty gained 20.15 points, or 0.08 per cent, to close at 24,252.

The Nifty Bank index, which tracks the performance of the country’s top 12 listed banks, closed 266.05 points, or 0.46 per cent, higher at 57,761.95.
