According to the sources, shareholder approval for Chandrasekaran’s directorship will be sought at the AGM, while the company’s annual report is expected to be released before the meeting.
Separately, the Charity Commissioner’s office is scheduled to hear the ongoing Tata Trusts dispute on July 27, placing the hearing in the run-up to both the board’s decision on Chandrasekaran’s reappointment and the AGM.
The developments come amid leadership changes within the Tata Group. Earlier, Noel Tata announced that he will step down as Chairman of Voltas in November after turning 70, in line with the Tata Group’s age-based retirement policy for non-executive directors.
Addressing shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting, Noel Tata said it would be his last annual general meeting as chairman. He is set to retire after attaining the age of 70 in November, in accordance with the Tata Group’s governance norms for non-executive directors.
