Urban Company sues Kent RO over ‘unsafe’, ‘risky’ water purifier ads


Urban Company has filed a defamation and disparagement suit against Kent RO Systems before the Delhi High Court over advertisements and social media content that the company alleges made false and misleading claims about its Native water purifiers.

According to an exchange filing on Sunday, August 23, Urban Company filed the suit on August 11, 2026, alleging that Kent RO’s advertising campaign targeted the two-year filter life and two-year service life features offered on its Native M0, M1, M2, M1 Pro and M2 Pro water purifiers.

Urban Company said Kent RO’s advertisements described these features as a “marketing gimmick” and claimed that using Native water purifiers was “unsafe” and “risky” for consumers.

Kent RO agrees to pull down advertisements

The matter was heard by the Delhi High Court on August 12. Following the hearing, Kent RO told the court that it would pull down the advertisements that were the subject of the suit and would not run other advertisements or promotional content making the same or similar claims about water purifiers offering a two-year filter life or two-year no-servicing feature that would disparage Urban Company.

Kent RO has been asked to remove the advertisements and social media content within 15 days of August 12, Urban Company said.

The court passed its order on August 12, although the order was published on the Delhi High Court’s website on August 22.

Urban Company added that other legal matters between the two companies remain sub judice, including a patent infringement suit filed by Kent RO, along with Urban Company’s counterclaim against Kent RO’s patent, and a tortious interference suit filed by Urban Company against Kent RO.Shares of the company closed 8.19% higher at ₹157.41 on Friday, ahead of the announcement. The stock has advanced close to 20% so far this year, while delivering a negative 6% return over the last 12 months.
