Vardhman Textiles, Graphite India lead Nifty 500 gainers as Prestige Estates, KEI Ind fall at market open


Vardhman Textiles, Graphite India and ITC were among the stocks that moved the Nifty 500 at market open on Monday, August 31, alongside sharper swings in KEI Industries, Prestige Estates and Polycab.

Trading volumes stood out most in Vardhman Textiles, which changed hands at more than 48 times its 10-day average, while several other counters traded well below their average volumes at the opening bell.

Separately, among the small cap stocks, the shares of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Ltd (TBZ) rallied sharply, hitting their upper circuit limit after surging 20% in early trade.

The stock opened at ₹315.00, up from its previous close of ₹305.70, and touched an intraday high of ₹366.80 during the morning session — marking a fresh 52-week high.

TBZ shares gained 19.99% (₹61.10) over the previous close, and are now trading 231.95% above their 52-week low of ₹110.50. The counter has also delivered strong returns over the past month, rising 30.77% from its July 31, 2026 closing price of ₹280.50.

Morning trading volumes stood robust at 120.65 lakh shares, reflecting heavy investor interest. The stock has closed in the green in 6 of its last 10 trading sessions, with Tuesday’s rally marking its biggest single-day gain in recent times.

Top gainers at market open

Vardhman Textiles shares rose up to 9% at market open. The company’s shares had risen almost 43% since the beginning of the year and almost 49% in the past year. The stock was at about a 10% decline from its 52-week high of ₹688. Over 96 lakh shares of the company were traded on the stock market at 48.11 times the stock’s 10-day average during intraday trade.

Graphite India shares rose over 6% at market open. The company’s shares had risen almost 15% since the beginning of the year and almost 44% in the past year. The stock was at about a 7% decline from its 52-week high of ₹802.40. Over 29 lakh shares of the company were traded at 4.26 times the stock’s 10-day average.

ITC shares rose over 3% at market open. The company’s shares had fallen more than 27% since the beginning of the year and almost 35% in the past year. The stock was about 3% away from hitting its 52-week low of ₹255.50. Over 69 lakh shares of the company were traded at 0.48 times the stock’s 10-day average.

Adani Green Energy shares rose over 3% at market open. The company’s shares had risen over 22% since the beginning of the year and almost 35% in the past year. The stock was at about a 29% decline from its 52-week high of ₹1,631.50. Over 14 lakh shares of the company were traded at 0.99 times the stock’s 10-day average.

Top losers at market open

Prestige Estates shares fell more than 4% at market open. The company’s shares had fallen more than 2% since the beginning of the year and over 1% in the past year. The stock was down 15.6% from its 52-week high of ₹1,805.20. Over 1 lakh shares of the company were traded at 0.33 times the stock’s 10-day average.

KEI Industries shares fell over 4% at market open. The company’s shares had risen more than 21% since the beginning of the year and over 40% in the past year. The stock was 7% below its 52-week high of ₹5,899. Over 1 lakh shares of the company were traded at 0.52 times the stock’s 10-day average.

Bikaji Foods International shares fell up to 4% at market open. The company’s shares had fallen more than 18% since the beginning of the year and more than 24% in the past year. The stock was 1.5% away from hitting its 52-week low of ₹592.55. Over 1 lakh shares of the company were traded at 0.99 times the stock’s 10-day average.

Polycab shares fell more than 3% at market open. The company’s shares had risen up to 19% since the beginning of the year and almost 28% in the past year. The stock was at a 10.8% decline from its 52-week high of ₹10,126. Over 1 lakh shares of the company were traded at 0.36 times the stock’s 10-day average.
