Paytm partners with ClearTax to offer ITR filing services starting at ₹11

Paytm has partnered with tax filing platform ClearTax to offer online income tax return (ITR) filing services through its app, with plans starting at ₹11. The service will allow taxpayers to file returns with features such as automated tax data import, broker data integration and assistance in case of income tax notices.

The partnership comes ahead of the income tax return filing deadline and aims to simplify the filing process for individuals who may find tax compliance complex. The ITR filing facility is available under the ‘Free Tools’ section of the Paytm app.

Under the ₹11 plan, taxpayers can access ClearTax’s automated filing process, where tax details are pre-filled using information available from Income Tax Department records. The platform also helps select the relevant ITR form and tax regime based on taxpayer details.

For investors, the service allows one-click import of trade data from more than 80 brokers, following which capital gains calculations are automated, according to the companies.

The service also includes complimentary Notice Protection, under which ClearTax will assist taxpayers if they receive an income tax notice after filing their return. The assistance includes explaining the notice, preparing responses and providing support until resolution.

Archit Gupta, founder and CEO of ClearTax, said the partnership aims to address cost and complexity issues that often delay tax filing.

Paytm said the service is part of its efforts to make financial services more accessible through its platform.

Taxpayers can access the feature by opening the Paytm app, scrolling to the ‘Free Tools’ section and selecting “File your ITR with ClearTax”. Users need to verify their email through an OTP to begin the filing process.
