Consolidated profit after tax rose 9.4% to ₹478 crore from ₹437 crore a year earlier, while EBITDA rose 9.4% to ₹762 crore from ₹697 crore over the same period, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The results were lifted by a one-time net benefit of ₹110 crore, which followed regulatory approval of the final project cost of the 113 MW Sikkim hydropower plant.

Investor sentiment was further boosted by the company declaring itself debt-free on both a standalone and consolidated basis as of June 2026. Liquidity stayed healthy at over ₹2,500 crore, giving the company room to fund its expansion plans through internal accruals rather than high-interest debt.
The company also announced the commissioning of a new 30 MW captive power plant at Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Management said the unit was ready for trial operations and was expected to begin stable commercial operations by mid-August, according to an earnings call. The unit was expected to boost output in the steel segment, a factor that appeared to be driving investor sentiment on the day.
Sarda outlined plans to quadruple its mining capacity to a total of 7.1 million tonnes, including the Shahpur West high-grade coal mine, which remained on track for commissioning before the end of FY27. The company also aimed to double its energy generation capacity, led by a brownfield expansion of the SKS thermal plant to 1,200 MW from 600 MW, expected to be completed by FY31. The energy segment accounted for nearly 70% of the company’s consolidated EBITDA.

The company had secured power supply agreements for over 380 MW of its 710 MW saleable capacity, which was expected to shield it from market volatility. Management also noted that power prices in July rose to ₹5 per unit, up from ₹4.19–4.20 per unit a year earlier, pointing to a stronger start to the second quarter.
Shares of Sarda Energy are trading 8.7% higher on Thursday at ₹532.05. The stock has now turned positive on a year-to-date basis after today’s upmove.
