A video shared by Vineet Kumar, founder of Loyalty Realty and former head of Loyalty and Promotional Venue at Sobha Realty, is going viral for its message on financial freedom and lifestyle choices.
In the video, Kumar urged people to prioritise a debt-free life over material comforts, saying that people should be willing to cut back on expenses rather than take on financial commitments that leave them feeling trapped in jobs they do not enjoy.
Control your expenses, even if you have to cut some desires
Kumar said people could choose to travel in a smaller car, visit malls less often, shop less, watch fewer movies or even opt for a smaller home if it helps them avoid getting caught in a cycle of EMIs and credit card debt.
He argued that since people spend a significant part of their lives working, being financially tied down could make it difficult to leave a job or pursue a different path.
“Whether you travel in a small car, whether you go to the mall less, whether you shop less, whether you watch less movies, or maybe you make a small house, but never get stuck in the cycle of EMI and credit card,” Kumar said.
He also urged people to control their expenses and, if necessary, give up some short-term desires in favour of greater financial independence.
“If you have to kill a little desire, do it. But a free life is a true life,” he said.

The video has sparked a mixed reaction online, with some users agreeing with Kumar’s message on avoiding debt. Others argued that EMIs and credit cards can be useful when managed responsibly.
One user wrote, “I have 5 loans, still I’m managing wisely. It’s good if you plan.”
Another expressed a preference for cash, saying, “Believe in cash instead of EMI.”
