Stocks to hold Today, August 6: The Indian stock market is expected to open slightly higher on Thursday (August 6), as indicated by the GIFT Nifty. However, the market may also face headwinds due to weakness across Asian markets.

Asian Markets Today
Asian markets traded lower on Thursday (August 6), with major indices posting losses.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped over 1 per cent to 65,523.50. South Korea’s KOSPI traded around 4 per cent lower at 6,345.08, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 2 per cent to 25,463. Meanwhile, China’s Shanghai Composite edged up 0.3 per cent to 3,891.59.

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended higher on Wednesday, supported by a decline in crude oil prices and foreign fund inflows.
The index opened on a positive note and touched an intraday high of 79,055.38 during the first half of the session. However, it erased most of its gains later in the day, slipping into negative territory before recovering. It hit an intraday low of 78,285.74, down 769.64 points from the day’s high.
The 50-share NSE Nifty gained 9.75 points, or 0.04 per cent, to settle at 24,624.65. During the session, it touched an intraday high of 24,677.60 and a low of 24,497.95.
